Who We Are
Romans 14:1 says
this, ‘Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on
disputable matters.’ This means that Christians are to accept each
other in spite of our differences. In fact, the Bible tells us that
the world will know that we are Jesus’ disciples by the way we
love one another.
Unfortunately, many main stream denominations have forced churches
to dispute who is right or wrong. We know that there is plenty of
good that comes from these churches but at The Body we do not have
ties to any denomination so that our mission is not influenced by
such disputes. We consider ourselves “denominationally neutral”. The
Body is a church where you can learn what the Bible says about sin,
God’s answer to sin, God’s purpose for your life, and fellowship
with those who have struggled in the same areas that you have. You
will be encouraged to get involved with one of our many fellowship
groups, from SCUBA to Sign Language to Motorcycle rides to book
clubs. The Body is a church for anybody, not everybody. We realize
that there are some who need a more strict teaching and others who
may need a more flamboyant style of church. God has made His church
like a body with many parts having many purposes and we encourage
you to find out where you fit in. But our part of the body of Christ
is to serve anyone who comes to our church. We are a place for
people who are tired and need a rest until God leads you elsewhere.
We are a place for those who are not sure if organized religion is
for them. We are a place for people who are serious about growing as
a Christian but not sure where home will be. And of course we want
to be that place that you make your church home, a place for you and
your family to settle in and find your place to serve. But
regardless of why God has led you here, while you are with us we
will do our best to encourage, motivate, and love you. Our main
focus is to be a place where those who don’t have a relationship
with Jesus or know Him but don’t like their previous experience with
church, can be welcomed comfortably and genuinely. We are a lot like
you. Our membership is folks who have had the same struggles that
you have. We don’t hide our past and don’t think that we are better
than anyone else. We just know that God has forgiven us and we want
to share that same forgiveness and love. Here at The Body you can
come as you are and be yourself without being judged. We invite you
to come see for yourself why The Body is a church for anybody, maybe
even you!
What we believe
We
believe that Jesus Christ is the one and only Savior.
Only by faith in Him can you have a
relationship with God.
We believe that the
Bible is God’s word. That it is has been kept free from error by
God, just as He keeps the universe and all the laws of nature
uncorrupted.
We believe in the Trinity of God; the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We
believe that Christians are sinners who have been spared God’s wrath
because Jesus Christ took our sin penalty on the cross and we have
trusted in Him and not our own efforts to please God.
We believe that as Christians, we are to do
our best to represent the values of Jesus Christ through the power
of the Holy Spirit.
We believe that our church is a place where
anyone can come and find a friend.
We believe that God has given us enough love
to spread around and that it is our responsibility to love you.
We believe that God created this world and all
that we see in it.
We believe that Jesus is coming again.
